Planning, plotting, working and wondering …….

£260 is far too little an amount to buy a pair of Resound Lynx 2 Hearing Aids, so I have been thinking of what I could do to ‘earn’ the remaining £4,740.

Its a toss up between climbing up a Cheese-grater’ or sailing down a ‘Spinnaker’

Both have their challenges, both have their own consequences and most of all, both have their own risks.  I guess the question is; UP or DOWN?

It will be 3 weeks on Monday until I have to return to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth to have my NHS Hearing aid fitted.

No, I haven’t mis-spelt it, I am only getting a hearing aid for my right ear…. I am thankfully getting 2 right ear hearing aids (to save me going out without if I drop one and struggle to find it!)

But I am going to be ‘lopsided’

The consultant says that I will lose some of my ‘good hearing’ by actually wearing a hearing aid in my left ear, so he wants me to try with just the right and see how I get along.

The testing I had done at my NHS hearing assessment did not go into the detail or level of testing that I had received at a private Hearing Aid assessment.  Conversation levels and tone were not tested, background noise or directional noise was also not tested.

It has left me feeling that as fabulous as The National Health Service is,  that going privately and purchasing a much more technological hearing aid system is most definitely the way forward.

So, I shall ask you all again……

Do I go UP or DOWN?
